Music Theory for Beginners iPad app – Putting fun into music theory?
Whilst music was one of those cop out lessons at school that everybody would just have a laugh in and give the poor teacher hell, learning music theory was laborious and dreaded. Despite its universal reputation as being almost as dreaded as a lesson on Chaucer or trigonometry, an app has been born titled ‘Music Theory for Beginners’.
Released by Musicroom, ‘Music theory for Beginners’ for iPad is designed to help those trying to get to grips with music theory. Despite my scepticism and inability to shake off memories of being bored to tears by an hour’s lesson dedicated to music theory, Musicroom’s apps are already being used by ½ million musicians worldwide and its newest app has been designed to make learning music theory fun – three words not normally interrelated.
The app consists of 22 lessons and includes various interactive tools that helps make reading and playing music easier and more enjoyable. Each lesson is designed to give users the information they will require to take an interactive quiz at the end of the lessons.
The ‘Music Theory for Beginners’ app is designed for people of varying music theory levels and its more than 2,000 question vary in difficulty.
Musicroom’s latest app is available to download at Musicroom’s website or at the app store for £2.99 – Perhaps I should attempt to shake off my cynicism about learning music theory and give the ‘Music Theory for Beginners’ app a go.
