Sony HD PG5

We can always rely on Sony to come up with quality and stylish goods and none more so it seems than its first ever range of external hard drives known as the HD-PG5 series.

Providing an ample 500GB of data storage capacity, the HD-PG5 series offers a generous space to protect your documents, music, videos, photos and other digital media.

Although in typical Sony fashion, its new range of hard drives provides much more than safeguarding data and offers a range of innovative new home entertainment experiences. The HD-PG5U model enables users to record HD television programmes from the TV’s tuner or connected cable/satellite service via a USB connection, whilst the supplied USB adaptor cable also enables simple ‘PC-free’ transfers of videos from Handycam camcorders with Direct Copy function, including the new DCR-SX21E and DCR-SR21.

This ‘PC-free’ feature is also available to PlayStation 3 users, who can view stored AVCHD photos and videos via the ‘Filmy’ application, whilst connection to your PC couldn’t be simpler as no separate power cable is needed and only a single USB cable is required.

Ultra-rapid data transfers is provided for USB 3.0 SuperSpeed, which guarantees data transfers are completed up to 3 times faster with compatible PCs.

All the HD-PG5 models are easy to use and contain Password Protection Manager Software that uses potent 256-bit security that ensures user’s files are safe against unauthorised access. Files and data are also backed up by Backup Manager Software that makes regular automated schedules backups.

We can rarely accuse Sony of not creating stylish products and its new range of external hard drives with their smooth, scratch-proof finish, will definitely make a stylish addition to compliment PCs, BRAVIA and PlayStation 3s.

Weighing a slight 180g, each model of the HG-PG5 series is easy to carry and portable.

We have yet to be informed about the pricing of Sony’s new series of hard drives so stay tuned.
